Apollo Theater »

Apollo Theater, located in Harlem, is one of the oldest and most famous music stages in the U.S., and the most famous stage associated with African-American performers. This historic theater offers a terrific tour and is very important for your NYC student music tour.

Central Park »

Central Park is 843 acres and very popular to city residents and tourists. Central Park is often home to political rallies and demonstrations, festivals, and massive concerts on the “Great Lawn.” While in Central Park on your student tour of NYC, your kids will have the chance to see Strawberry Field, take a horse carriage ride in the Park, visit Central Park Zoo or ice skate at Wollman Rink.

Chinatown and Little Italy »

Chinatown is a very active neighborhood full of restaurants, outdoor food markets and cheap merchandise. Over the years, the Chinatown population has grown significantly in population and neighborhood size. Chinatown now covers most of Little Italy. Little Italy has many great Italian restaurants and is very popular with all student groups.

Empire State Building »

The Empire State Building is an American cultural icon and is a NYC designated landmark. This skyscraper has 102-stories and a height of 1,250 feet. With its antenna spire included, this building stands a total of 1,454 feet high. Almost every school tour to New York City includes taking an elevator up to the top for a great view of NYC.

Federal Reserve Bank of NY »

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks in the Federal Reserve System. If you are an FBLA-PBL group or any other student business tour, your students can take a guided tour of the Fed and explore interactive exhibits in the Bank’s museum. One of the favorites is to see the “Gold Vault,” which is currently the largest gold repository in the world holding approximately 7,000 tons of gold bullion.

Financial District »

The Financial District, located in the southernmost section of NYC, includes the offices and headquarters of many of the city’s major financial institutions, including the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the New York Mercantile Exchange. The area is also home to the 9/11 Memorial and the new One World Trade Center. Finally, the district is a significant historical site with the Federal Hall, Trinity Church and South Street Seaport. This is a must-see for any FBLA-PBL group or any other student business tour.

Famous 5th Avenue »

Fifth Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the center of New York City. The section of 5th Ave. between 49th Street and 60th Street, is lined with prestigious shops and is consistently ranked among the most expensive shopping streets in the world.

Fashion Institute of Technology »

The Museum at FIT is one of a select group of specialized fashion museums. The goal of the Museum is to collect, conserve, document, exhibit, and interpret fashion. The Museum’s permanent collection now encompasses some 50,000 garments and accessories from the 18th century to the present. Important designers such as Adrian, Balenciaga, Chanel, and Dior are represented. Students will love this while on your NYC student fashion tour.

Grand Central Terminal »

Grand Central Terminal is a beautiful stop in midtown. The station opened in 1913 and then undertook a huge restoration and making it not only a train station but home to great restaurants, stores and shopping. While in Grand Central, you must look up and see the magnificent ceiling showing the solar system.

Harlem »

Harlem is one of the most famous neighborhoods in NYC. Since the 1920s, Harlem has been a major African-American community. During that time, it was the place to come for Jazz, and many Black musicians, including Duke Ellington, got their start there. In the 1930s, the neighborhood was the focus of the “Harlem Renaissance.” After many decades of ups and downs, in the 1990s the neighborhood saw a gentrification and today it is a major residential, cultural and business center.

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum »

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a military and maritime history museum with a collection of museum ships in New York City. It is now the new home to Space Shuttle Enterprise. This now must be a stop on your New York City student tour.

Macy’s »

If your student fashion group wants to shop and learn about fashion, your group will love this stop.  Macy’s, frequently promoted as “the world’s largest store,” has its 10-story flagship store in Herald Square.  This historical building, which still has some old wooden escalators, sells everything.  Macy’s is an integral part of NYC and is well known for its 4th of July fireworks, Thanksgiving Day parade, Christmas windows and much more.

Metropolitan Museum of Art »

If you are a high school or middle school art teacher, you must see this amazing museum while on your NYC Tour. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (frequently called “The Met”) contains more than two million works of art and is one of the world’s largest art galleries.

Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) »

Often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world, MoMA’s collection offers an unparalleled overview of modern and contemporary art, including works of architecture and design, drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist’s books, film, and electronic media.

Museum of American Finance »

The Museum of American Finance was established to preserve and display financial objects and information. This museum provides several displays on the financial markets and the nation’s economy. Museum of Natural History »

American Museum of Natural History is one of the largest and most celebrated museums in the world. The Museum’s collections contain over 32 million specimens. Connected to the Museum, is The Hayden Planetarium (now part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space) housed in a glass cube containing the spherical Space Theater.

Parsons School of Design »

Parsons School of Design is a private art and design college in Greenwich Village. Parsons is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious art and design universities in the world. Parsons received much attention from the reality series, “Project Runway.”

Radio City Music Hall »

Radio City Music Hall is one of the most popular stops for any NYC field trip. Constructed as part of Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall is well known for presenting touring performers and special events. Every Christmas time, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, has been a tradition for more than 70 years.

Rockefeller Center »

Rockefeller Center is a landmark and part of every NYC student tour. The famous Rockefeller Center contains 22 acres and 19 commercial buildings. Rockefeller Center is home to numerous popular attractions, including NBC “Today Show,” NBC Studios Tour, Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and ice skating rink.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral »

Completed in 1898, St. Patrick’s Cathedral was a parish church and the seat of the Archbishop of New York. Since this cathedral is located on Fifth Avenue amid all of the trendy stores, the cathedral is hard to miss. Once inside, your students should view the cathedral’s Neo-Gothic style architecture and learn about the beautiful stained glass windows.

Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island »

Statue of Liberty, a national monument standing tall on Liberty Island. This “Lady of Liberty,” is the world famous symbol of freedom given by France in celebration of friendship. While on this educational tour, your students will also learn of Ellis Island as the stop for millions of immigrants to the U.S.

Times Square and the Broadway District »

Times Square, in midtown NYC, known as “The Great White Way,” is the home of the Broadway theater district, shopping and business. This area is also popular for the bright and flashing signs and dropping of the ball on New Year’s Eve. Top Of The Rock »

To avoid long lines at the Empire State Building, many groups would rather ride to the top of Rockefeller Center. It is often considered the best panoramic view of New York because it offers a view of the Empire State Building, which obviously cannot be seen from its own observation deck.

Whitney Museum »

The Whitney Museum of American Art is located on Madison Ave. on the upper east side of NYC and is a great art museum with a focus on 20th- and 21st-century American art. This museum contains more than 18,000 works in a wide variety of media.
